Have 250 miles on my '09 G8 GXP. Issues? Well, who the Hell makes a $40,000 car w/o garage door openers? This cars may say "Pontiac" on it but it's much more Aussie than USA. First car I've ever owned where the fuel gauge doesn't have "F" and "E" on it. This cars gauges are Euro all the way. Also, no NAV system. Well, I can deal with that since I have a Garmin. The driver's door has absolutely no controls on it! Window and door switches are on the center console. Seat lumbar and seatback controls are cheap manual knobs on the side of the seat. Good luck trying to adjust them while sitting normally in the seat. Sunroof control is just plain goofy. VW all the way if you ask me.
All this being said...I still love the car. Probably the engine! |

I've had just a few.
Brakes pulsated off the lot (rust on the rotors) and pulled to the left (alignment). Fuel pump went at 170 miles. Lots of problems with gas cap being loose, causes check engine light. Got a new gas cap, same problem. Now check engine light won't go off. Onstar says diagnostics show a vapor leak which is probably the gas cap......again! I'll have them check it when my air bag modual that I've been waiting for for a few months comes in. Everytime I start it, I have to turn off the airbag and check engine warning on the display. Did I mention the low huim between 50 and 60mph? A little annoying. Kind of like having a hot girlfriend with crooked teeth. |

LOVE the car, but a few small qualms:
- Little bit of vibration in the wheel at 50-60 mph after AFM kicks in - Crappy wheel-type seat adjuster - Sound system is not that great. The sound was great in my G6, but the the G8 has left me feeling real disappointed Other than that this is the best car I've ever owned. |

Great car, but as posted earlier I too was disappointed with the lack of home control (garage door opener). And C'mon, an MSRP of $41,590 and no self dimming rearview mirror?!? WTF!! Last complaint, where is the full instrumentation? I still love the thing too damn much, a real torque monster!! Wouldn't trade it for anything.

The only issue I've had with my GT is the "check engine" light has come on sporatically since I put my Roto-Fab CAI on. It does turn itself off eventually. It seems to only turn on after I run the car on a cold morning (high 30's low 40's). After a day, and some warm weather, it turns itself off. By the way the folks at RotoFab were spectacular. I emailed them, and had a response in an hour. The gentleman on the other end of the email seemed genuinly concerned that I had an issue. He followed up with me twice since I've had this issue, and wanted to know how it was resolved so they can make any adjustments or let any other customers who may have the same issue a solution. It is very rare to see someone take the initiative the way they did..Kudos to RotoFab.
The stero leaves a bit be desired. I'm a bit jaded because I have McIntosh speakers and amps in my other vehicle, so it's tough to be fair when I'm so used to listening to that sound system. Besides....who wants to listen to music, when beautiful sound is at the tip of your right foot? I have found the system sounds better or worse depending on the type of music I'm playing. Plus, I have the fader to +2 to the rear speakers. This setting seems to make the bass a bit more prominent, and the tin sounding tweeters in the front a little more muted. After about a half hour of playing around with the bass/treble/fader settings...this to me (to my ear at least) has produced the best sound. |

So far I have a falling apart key fob, clunking noise under the hood drivers side, airbag fault light is on, trunk latch only works when it wants to and makes a terrible buzzing noise when you press the release button, sliver peeling off climate control knob, middle dash speaker blown. Wow good this she is pretty.

Wow, I have had none of these problems (and I've had a few mods as well)...I'm starting to feel lucky!
I agree the stereo isn't jaw dropping. I had a Grand Prix GTP and it had better sound...I've gotten used to it though. But I have a garage door opener or no functional problems whatsoever so I just LOVE mine. I back this car 100% and will never sell it. I like that it's simple but streamlined inside as opposed to the 1500 gadgets that just distract you from driving. |

I find it hard to listen to guys complain about what the car doesn't have as if they never test drove the thing or read review. Sure it's missing Homelink, Nav, power seat backs, Bluetooth, a real sound system and a spare. You KNOW that before you buy it I would assume. You can't buy a G8 GT with that kind of muscle and style for (in my case $27k) and expect the normal upscale bells and whistles.
Only issue I have had is the pulsating brakes and a warning flasher button that caved in the first time I tried it. I put Goodyear Eagle GT's on at 13,000 miles hoping winter traction (M&S rated) would improve over Bridgestones. Not worth it - although they have more tread width and look awesome. |
