per the manual for the 2008 G8 GT, the radio, in my case the 6 cd changer, is supposed to have 4 different modes of display. On page 6-11 it that all you need do to change the display is press the display mode soft key - I don't have that option. I have been to my sales guy and and two service departments and called customer care without any solution.
Does anyone else have this issue?

My Display mode key is the far right channel button. So bottom right corner of the screen. I don't have the GT version, but I think the 6-disk stereo version is the same in both the GT and the V6 versions.

It changes the way the screen displays the CD contents. For example - Album/Song, Album/Play Time, Song/Play Time. etc....

After you select CD the channel select button on the far right will be the Display Change button.

From what I'm finding out, the early VIN number '09's did not have BLUE TOOTH, or the ability to display additional information. I have no idea why, because they seem to be the same INFOTAINMENT unit. Somebody must
have not programed them correctly at Blaupunkt?

So cost issues aside, could one go to a GM dealer and order a new INFOTAINMENT unit and would this then include the blue tooth as well as the soft key function?

I have to think the answer is yes, but I'm sure a call to the dealer would verify if a newer unit would have the feature.
My owners manual states that mine has the variable display feature, as well as blue tooth. but the window sticker only indicates the 11 speaker, 6 disk radio and no mention of blue tooth.

It varies from CD to CD. Its not the radio, its the cd. Certain CD's are made with the additional info in the cd itself and some are not. Out of the 6 in my car now, only 2 give the option to change the display. Just my .02!

If the CD your playing has CD text encoded i.e. artist,song etc. then the radio will display said information.
