How many members plan to do their own routine maintenance or let someone else do it?

I do the maintenance work on the my vehicles and if the relatives bring the oil and filters I do theirs. I am not a mechanic so I only do the simple things like oil and oil filters, air filters, spark plugs and top the fluid levels.

I will do all my own work unless it's a warranty problem then let the dealer do it because I have been a auto tech for 28 years with 12 of them a GM tech.

^^ I do the same. If I can do it, then I do it.

I do everything non-warranty, keep all receipts and maintain maintenance records from birth to death. Based on my previous experiences, I know as much if not more than dealer techs. I buy the factory manuals from Helm. I have done all of my work for almost 40 years. If I were to get stumped (a couple of misdiagnoses on my part are still cheaper than going to the dealer's) then I will break open the piggy bank and go to the dealer. I never go to private mechanic other than for tires because I do trust the dealer more than that.

Warranty issues I'll pass to the dealer...other than that I do my own or as much as I can, run into a problem theres this site, or I can pick a mechanics ear that I know, or just pull out my Helms manual or in the case of the G8...manuals. there a tough read but better than going in totally blind. You wanna tough read try working your way thru 95 Cadillac Seville manual better yet try workin on one without one!
