I'm considering the new Varex exhaust with the adjustable butterfly valve on it for my GT. I currently have a Roto-Fab CAI on it. I know if you add a freeflow exhaust system in conjunction with a CAI you're supposed to get a tune done. If I did buy the Varex, I would be running it 99% of the time w/the butterfly valve closed on it, and only open it once in a while for a quick burst of fun on the highway, or once in a while pulling away from a stop light. So my question is, being that I will be using the exhaust as a 'normal' exhaust most of the time, and a free flow exhaust once in a great while...will the car still require a tune?? :4-dontknow: Furthermore....has anyone bought one of these exhausts...if so...how do you like it?

Just noticed this post as I've not been checking regularly and missed it back in Feb. Did you ever purchase this exhaust? If so, what do you think? Did you use/consider JHP as the importer? I've been really tempted to get this for my GT as well and I've got the Vararam intake so I have all the same questions.

I never did end up buying the exhaust. I figured the $$ will be better spent paying off the car rather than doing any modifications at this point. I still don't know of anyone who has put one on. I did speak do a guy in my shop, and he told me that you wouldn't have to tune it if you kept the butterfly valve closed most of the time. So ....I hope that helps!

I have the Varex X-Force mufflers on my '09 GT. They are not real loud, but have a very nice rumble when open. In fact, I leave mine open most of the time. They look real nice with a high polish to 'em. Since I'm the second owner I can't comment on where the first guy bought them.
Bottom line is I like them alot because they're not real loud in normal driving and sound great when you jump on it.
