I recently got my G8 and noticed some small (but significant) scratches on the hood. What's the best thing for removing scratches?

If the scratches are deep enough that you can catch a fingernail on it, then you will have to let a body shop do it. meinsla 06-09-2009, 05:12 PM If the scratches are deep enough that you can catch a fingernail on it, then you will have to let a body shop do it. That's unfortunate. Yeah I have a few of those on the ground effects. It was raining pretty bad and I hydroplaned off the road and got stuck in some deep mud. Had to get a tow truck to come pull me out. At that point I just wanted to kill someone because I had only owned the thing for a few days haha. But everything's fine though, just a couple scratches on the body kit that rubbing compound won't fix. 300m 06-15-2009, 11:33 AM Yeah, I hit a deer last week with my GT, but as he was crossing the road he turned his head and slowed down, so it was more of swipe. Damn saliva or some fluid stained/marked the front left fender. Won't come off with normal washing and I had waxed it just before the incident. Of course , it could have been much worse. meinsla 06-22-2009, 07:15 AM Yeah, I hit a deer last week with my GT, but as he was crossing the road he turned his head and slowed down, so it was more of swipe. And the doesn't even count the dozens of alive ones I saw. I am so scared of hitting a deer in this car, especially living in upstate NY for the time being. jaxredg8 06-26-2009, 03:05 PM Hell, here in Florida hitting a deer is like hitting a small dog!! Good luck on getting the scratches off. If some of them are swirl marks, could have come from washing it. Clay bar works nice for light surface scratches. I have a meguiar clay bar and paste and it works wonder. Makes it shiny as hell too! |
