Well, here's the latest update on the BMR Strut Tower Brace and Trans Tunnel Brace I ordered...

I haven't installed the trans tunnel brace yet (probably will this weekend) but it replaces an existing part and has a total of four bolts... can't imagine any issues whatsoever...

I wish I could say the same for the Strut Tower Brace... ugh... a bit of a nightmare....

I attempted this installation on my driveway, instructions in hand, and confident that it would be as simple as they describe it... wow, was I in for a shock... turns out that the instructions say to remove the 2 - 10mm nuts that are holding the ABS module in place (which is no easy feat, I assure you) and raise the ABS module up to install the Strut Tower Brace underneath it. I'm sure this CAN be done, but I couldn't get the ABS module higher than about 1/4". This allowed me to put the one bolt in, but there was no way I could get the second one attached. Beleiving that this would be something I could deal with later (and of course, the little kid in me wanting to get that big red shiny part installed) I decided to press on...

The most frustrating part came next... there is a huge black wiring molex plug on the ABS module. The wiring on the base of it interferes with the Strut Tower Brace itself, and there's simply no easy way to have the brace in place and then attach the wiring molex plug back on the ABS module. After fighting with it for the better part of an hour, I gave in and decided ABS was more important than shiny red bar, and removed everything and put it all back to stock.

I have taken the car to the dealership today where a few of the tech's had gathered to listen to my story. A few said that it could be done if you removed the 10mm wiring harness retaining strap located way down beside the block to allow more flex in the wiring loom before bolting it all back in. They are going to put it on for me tomorrow afternoon at the shop and I'll let you know how they make out...
