Has anyone thought about swapping the current antenna on our G8's for something more streemline and easier to cover like the shark-fin looking antenna?
I have ordered a cover for my wifes G8 sedan. I am holding off on a cover for my GT till I can find an optional antenna since I don't want to take the antenna off everytime I cover my GT. Besides, between riding my busa and the G8, its too much work to cover and uncover and remove and replace the antenna every couple of days.
Any suggestions??
Aloha!

For now the cover is good, especially since they made the cust cover with the boot for the antenna, but still be lookin' for the alternate antenna for a more streamline look. A friend said there's a company by the name of stylin concepts or something close to that :4-dontknow: that makes the fin like antenna for out G8's. It's supposed to fit right over the base of our stock antenna and the mounting screw is located where the stock post antenna threaded in.
IF ANYONE FINDS THE LINK, PLEASE PASS IT ON.

Try and look at this link. It's the first alternative I've seen and I'm going to continue looking to see if something with a stock install comes available.
Good luck everyone.

It looks like that shark fin only supports AM/FM? I take it if we have XM changing the antenna out for that will cause problems.

Has anyone found out if this antenna will support the XM Sat. stations...I'd love to get one, although i never saw the PBM colour listed in the options... Does anyone know if it's available in this colour....

hi all, i e-mailed these guys in regards to their antenna and the question that Elliot had asked about the XM Sat. reception... This is the answer i was given, it's actually good news....
Hi Gary,
Thanks for your email.
The XM Satellite and OnStar antenna's are integrated into the antenna base
as a module / chip. The whip antenna that is being replaced by our antenna
is for AM/FM reception only, and thus, it won't affect the functionality of
your XM and OnStar antenna's. However, I know that G8 models that come with
the OnStar options have a larger antenna base and our current shark fin
model will only be compatible with the models that have the standard sized
antenna base (http://www.visualgarage.com/Product_Antenna_Fitment.html). We
will be introducing a new shark fin model in the coming months that will be
able to accomodate the larger antenna bases, such as the G8 ones with the
integrated XM and OnStar.
If you wish, I can place your email onto our notification list for the new
antenna so that you will be notified when it becomes available.
Thanks for your interest in our products!
Regards,
Arthur

I've only had my car for a couple of weeks and I'm scared to take it through a car wash with the brushes..my last car had a couple of antennas similar to this one that got rippid off I'm not sure if someone stole them or if the car wash did it. lol..
My car is black and its easier to go through the automatic car wash then washing it every couple of days.
