Penzoil is good for off the shelf. Amsoil is hard to beat. Zonestar 05-24-2009, 06:59 AM Do a little research folks. Mobil 1 finishes near last place in almost all comparisons. Penzoil is good for off the shelf. Amsoil is hard to beat. Since Exxon/Mobil reformulated the Mobil1 motor oils back in 2005/2006 their quality has taken a hit. Pennzoil Platinum and Vavoline Synpower are probably two of the best API approved motor oils one can buy OTC. incon3037r 05-26-2009, 06:35 AM I use only AMSOIL as well and would have to agree it's hard to beat. If you could buy it over the counter, I might be more of an advocate for them but I like going into china Mart and buying 5 qts of top quality synthetic motor oil for $20 to $21. yesindeedGT 06-06-2009, 11:22 PM There is a GM number that appears in the owner's manual, under the lubricating oil section, must be identified on the oil container. I can't remember it off the top of my head but it's there. ncgator8 12-25-2009, 11:15 AM In my opinion, if you really a tough oil, Royal Purple is it. about $9.00 per quart. I was using it in my Corvette until I switched over to Valvoline; Valvoline does not list GM 6094 certification, so it will not go in my G8. ncgator8 12-25-2009, 11:17 AM Look at my previous therad about the cert. n2wood 07-01-2010, 04:51 PM Do a little research folks. Pricey but worth it. I change oil once a year or 25,000 miles (that's twenty five thousand miles). |
